What do you see as the value of our current legal system?

While much controversy exists over the effectiveness of law and the powers of Congress and the Supreme Court, I feel that the value of our current legal system maintains its stance as being overwhelmingly important. The idea of jury nullification is diminishing, and the idea of a supreme law of the land is still in effect. These are two very important contentions when it comes to the argument of justice in our current legal system.
To begin with, jury nullification has been a controversial issue over the past many years and has either been seen a just check on government, or an unnecessary act that ruins the credibility of our governmental system. The principle of jury nullification in the United States only stands in favor of those that have committed crimes towards their own country. For those people that fail to abide by the law that they give up certain liberties in their social contract to be protected by, there needs to be a punishment. And so I am ecstatic when it comes to not pardoning a criminal whether the crime seems just or unjust. A jury and a law are two completely different entities, and the jury, a group of peers, should not be given the right to declare a law null in any circumstance. We, the people, together voted that we want a system of government that could maintain balance throughout the country, and to go against what we, ourselves, agreed to live by is completely unnecessary and cannot be tolerated. Our current legal system is thankfully doing everything in its power to treat others the way they ask to be treated according to the law that they are set to follow, and so the value of our current legal system is one that simply can't be tampered with.
Moreover, I'm happy to say that the Supreme Court still stands as the supreme law of the land, as spoken about in the very constitution that we (as United States constitutes) live by today. The idea that people of this country are willing to give up some of their rights for services is the foundation for ushering in an effective and influential government. And so having this country still abiding by what the framers of the constitution wanted becomes an important part of why our legal system's value is still great. Giving the judicial branch the power to government the rest of the country is a huge responsibility, and its methods and techniques must be considered carefully, and this is exactly what has happened.
In summation, knowing about the law of the land one lives on is important in being able to live freely and correctly. Law and politics appeal to me as an individual because it takes a few people to help govern and make certain that the country is always on its feed during any issues it faces, and so I'd like to become one of those few individuals that can help the rest of society.
