Shane's Day For Kids
Disadvantaged Kids Treated To A Day At The Museum

Pembroke Pines, FL - The Shane McGee Foundation, a 501(c)3 registered in Florida, which is dedicated to promoting consumer awareness, and educating the public about dangerous and defective products, will launch its “Shane’s Day for Kids” at the Museum of Discovery & Science in downtown Fort Lauderdale on August 13, 2007.

One hundred children who are affiliated with Kids In Distress (KID) will be treated to Museum admission and an informative, exciting IMAX movie about dinosaurs. These children are enrolled in various programs with KID, another non-profit organization dedicated to helping neglected, abused children in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Many of the children are in the foster care program, and so outings such as an afternoon at a Museum are a rare treat.

"It is a true pleasure that we are able to do something special for these children,” stated Foundation Board of Director Connie McGee. “They are so deserving, and this is not only a fun outing for them, but an educational one as well.”

Foundation Board Member Robert McGee added, “We hope to make ‘Shane’s Day for Kids’ an annual event, and possibly will plan other outings for the kids later this year.”

In addition to the 100 children touring the Museum and attending the movie that day, the Shane McGee Foundation is also covering the cost of 10 chaperones and transport to and from the Museum.

Connie McGee shares, “We even got flashing lighted pins to put on the shirts of all the kids, so that we can easily recognize our group and keep everyone together. After all…safety first!”
